Russia plans in the near future to conclude new contracts for the supply of helicopters of Mi-8 and Mi-171 types to Kazakhstan, Igor Chechikov, deputy general director of the holding company Russian Helicopters, said. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
"Since 2014, we have supplied the Mi-8AMT, Mi-171E and Mi-171Sh helicopters to Kazakhstan by ROE line and are planning new deliveries. The relevant negotiations are already underway, "he said. Chechikov added that the holding is also improving the servicing of Russian-made helicopters operated in Kazakhstan.
"At KADEX-2016 we signed a roadmap of joint projects for the period until 2020 with JSC" National Company "Kazakhstan Engineering" and JSC "Aircraft Repair Plant No. 405" with the goal of expanding the after-sales service of Russian-made helicopters, "the agency's source recalled.
He explained that the signed document provides for the coordination of work between the three companies, including the development of the overhaul of the Mi-171Sh helicopters, as well as the modernization of the M-8T, Mi-17-B5 and Mi-171Sh helicopters for the installation of new equipment and improve their flight performance.
Mi-8/17 helicopters are used in medical and search and rescue missions, carry cargo and passenger transportation, are involved in the protection of forests and fisheries. To date, more than 12,000 Mi-8/17 helicopters have been produced, which are delivered to 100 countries around the world.
The Mi-171Sh helicopter is designed for the transport of personnel, as well as cargo inside the cabins and on the external suspension. It can be used for rescue operations, as well as carry armaments.
